MISSION

The Museum is strongly rooted in one of the most peculiar natural territories of the Italian peninsula, the Tuscia of Viterbo. A geographical area that represents a unicum from the geological, vegetational, faunal and cultural points of view. The institution aims to represent a scientific and didactic center able to promote  the knowledge, the correct use and the good valorisation of this territory.

The heart of the Museum's action is the area of the Marturanum regional park, which covers approximately 1240 hectares in an area between the Tolfa mountains in the province of Rome and the areas adjacent to Lake Vico (province of Viterbo). But its operational terrain also extends to other territorial areas, starting with the Special Conservation Areas (ZSC) "Il Quarto di Barbarano Romano" and "Gole del Torrente Biedano" as well as the Special Protection Area (SPA) "Tolfetano District - Cerite-Manziate ".
